A bicyclist was hit by a car Tuesday morning on Morse Boulevard in The Villages.
The bicyclist was northbound on Morse Boulevard at about 10 a.m. when he was apparently hit from behind by a silver four-door automobile.



Passersby immediately rushed in to help the injured rider who had been knocked from his bicycle by the car. The quick-thinking Villagers swiftly began to render aid to the man who had been hit as well as directing traffic around the accident scene. The Villages Public Safety Department, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and Community Watch quickly arrived at the scene of the crash on Morse Boulevard near its intersection with San Marino Drive.
The bicyclist appeared to be alert and conscious.
The investigation into the crash has been turned over to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident caused a huge backup on Morse Boulevard.
Morse Boulevard continues to be a source of concern for residents, worried about speeding as well as the dangerous intermingling of automobiles, golf carts, bicyclists and pedestrians.
