Starting this year – 2025, more than 68 million Americans – and nearly 5 million Floridians – will have an average of roughly $50 per month added to their monthly Social Security benefits.
This 2.5% increase raises the typical average monthly amount to about $1,976. More information on this increase is available at https://www.ssa.gov/cola/.
Americans have been contributing to the social security and Medicare trust funds for years, with the assurance that they would be able to count on benefits when they retire.
I will never support pulling the rug out from Americans that have relied on that promise and are now in retirement.
Preserving these programs for our children and grandchildren will require wise and difficult choices. I am committed to protecting these programs and keeping our promises to seniors today while looking for ways to preserve retirement security for future generations.
