Richard Bartlett Findley Jr., known to those who loved him as Bart, passed away peacefully in his Florida home on March 14, 2025, at the age of 56.

Born on August 30th, 1968, in Hinsdale, IL, and raised in Glen Ellyn, Bart spent his childhood doing what he loved most; playing sports and hanging out with family and friends. His teenage years defined him as an “all around cool guy” by defying the social boundaries at Glenbard West High School—because why fit in when you can make friends everywhere? He went on to attend DePauw University, where he was a part of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, made lifelong connections, and probably told a few too many dad jokes before actually becoming a dad.
After graduating, Bart built a life centered around his two greatest joys: his children, Kayla and Cassandra. He was the kind of father who never missed a game, coaching their softball teams with the same enthusiasm as Don Zimmer. His dedication extended beyond the field, where he spent the past 30 years with a career in IT, working hard to provide for his family while still prioritizing the important things in life, like debating the greatest 80s movies of all time. For the last couple years of his life, he resided in Lady Lake, FL where he got to live out his dream of golfing in his free time, all year round.
Bart is survived by his children, Kayla and Cassandra Findley, as well as his sisters, Patia Modia and Meg (John) Zubak. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patia and Richard “Dick” Findley.
His warmth, humor, and ability to make anyone feel at home will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honor his memory in true Bart fashion—by listening to some 80s alternatives, telling a corny joke, or simply taking time to call the people you love.
Services to celebrate Bart’s life will take place in the coming months. Details of the arrangements will be shared by his children.
