A Villager who spent his career in cyber investigations has been chosen to serve on the Community Development District 8 Board of Supervisors.
Gaylon Thompson of the Village of St. Charles was appointed Tuesday to the CDD 8 board during a meeting at SeaBreeze Recreation Center. He was chosen to fill a vacancy created by the recent resignation of longtime Supervisor Duane Johnson, who supported Thompson’s appointment to the board.

Thompson has lived in The Villages for nine years, having moved here from Maryland.
He started his career in law enforcement in 1976 with the police department in Topeka, Kansas. From there, he moved over to the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office, also in Topeka, and rose to the rank of captain.
In 2004, he made the leap to the Department of Defense Cyber Crime Center and then worked with companies that partnered with the Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of State.
Here in The Villages, he is active in The Villages Deep Sea Fishing Club and acts as trip coordinator for the group’s more than 500 members.
