21-year-old Citrus Springs motorcyclist killed in collision with vehicle

A 21-year-old Citrus Springs motorcyclist was killed Saturday night when his motorcycle collided with the back of a car in Citrus County.

Jesse Monaco had been riding a 2005 Honda CBR at a high rate of speed at 7:10 p.m. northbound on U.S. 19 when 49-year-old Elizabeth Bonne of Homosassa, driving a 2009 Mitsubishi Galant, made a U-turn into the path of his motorcycle, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Monaco locked up the brakes of the motorcycle, but could not avoid the collision with Bonne’s vehicle. He was thrown from the motorcycle in the collision.

Monaco, who had been wearing a helmet, died at the scene of the accident.
