22-year-old killed after pickup leaves roadway, strikes tree trunk in Marion County

A 22-year-old Clermont man was killed after his pickup truck left the roadway and struck a tree trunk Saturday night in Marion County.

Justin Cole Delaney had been at the wheel of a 1994 Toyota Tacoma at 9:40 p.m. at SW 7th Avenue and SW 45th Street when it drifted across the southbound lane and collided with a large tree trunk that was lying next to the road, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Delaney’s truck turned over and landed on its roof.

He was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing. The report noted that Delaney was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
