58-year-old Summerfield man killed in accident on Florida Turnpike

A 58-year-old Summerfield man was struck and killed in an accident Friday morning on the Florida Turnpike.

Charles Fulci at 8:30 a.m. had pulled over to the side of the road when his 2010 Ford Escape began to overheat at Mile Marker 256 in Orange County, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

He was getting out of his vehicle when he was stuck by a 2017 Jeep Renegade driven by 35-year-old Shaira Bloise-Rincon of Kissimmee which had drifted into the emergency lane.

Fulci was pronounced dead at the scene by the Medical Examiner.

A passenger in the Fulci’s vehicle was uninjured. He has been identified as 65-year-old Mark Papaj, also of Summerfield.
