84-year-old Ocala man dies as result of collision in Marion County

An 84-year-old Ocala man died as the result of a collision Monday evening in Marion County.

Hubert Downard was pronounced dead by Marion County Fire Rescue at the scene of the accident which occurred at 5:57 p.m. at State Road 40 and SE 162 Terrace. He had been at the wheel of a 2004 Ford Taurus which collided with a 1999 Lexus RX300 driven by 60-year-old Sharon Nehring of Ocala. She suffered minor injuries and was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Downard had made a left turn into the path of Nehring’s vehicle, violating the right of way of her vehicle, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
