93-year-old Villager’s golf cart stolen from her residence

A 93-year-old Villager lost her only means of transportation when her golf cart was stolen from her residence.

The Village of Del Mar woman caught an early morning ride for lab work on Sept. 5. When she returned home at about 7:30 a.m., she found that her home on Prado Drive had been burglarized and her 2003 Club Car was gone.

“I always felt so safe,” said the woman, who has lived in The Villages for 27 years.

Villages-News.com is not identifying the woman or using her exact address because she is the victim of a crime.

The burglar also took a silver necklace with a purple gem, a Victrola-style record-CD-cassette player and a clock, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

Her golf cart was the woman’s sole means of transportation. She said she stopped driving a car when she turned 90. She said her insurance company has informed her that the golf cart was not covered for theft.
