Altercation breaks out at high school in Ocala over Snapchat post

An altercation reportedly broke out Wednesday at a high school in Ocala over a Snapchat post.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was working as a school resource officer at Forest High School located at 5000 SE Maricamp Road when he was called to a classroom in reference to a verbal altercation, according to an incident report. The school’s assistant principal walked into the classroom and observed a student slapping the vicim on the right side of her head. The assistant principal then escorted the student to the hallway. The deputy then escorted the student to the discipline office. The student was screaming “I’m not gonna let that ride” in the hallway as she was being escorted to the office.

The deputy made contact with the victim, who advised that the student came into the class and started a verbal argument with her about something that was said on Snapchat. The victim stated that the student was standing at her desk in a threatening manner, at which time the victim stood up because she did not want to get trapped at her desk if the student started to attack her. She then repeatedly told the student to get out of her face and that she had no reason to fight her. As the assistant principal came into the classroom to step in between the girls, the student slapped the victim on the right side of her head.

The classroom’s teacher who witnessed the incident validated the victim’s account.

The victim and her mother stated that they wanted to press charges, according to the report.
