An avid shutterbug scored a terrific photograph of a Bobcat this week at the Sharon Rose Wiechens Preserve here in The Villages.
Sam Boatman, of the Village of Antrim Dells, was in the same preserve last month when he captured images of a Bobcat scurrying away from him.
“Since you published the first sighting of the Bobcat actually running on the railing of the boardwalk, a lot of people ask me about it when I go to the preserve every morning before sunrise,” Boatman told Villages-News.com.
Little did he know an even better opportunity was in store.
At about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Boatman was out at sunrise and landed an even better shot of a Bobcat.
Boatman, who is from East Tennessee, is familiar with Bobcats.
“I saw a lot of Bobcats growing up in the hills of Tennessee,” he said.
His two well-documented encounters with Bobcats in The Villages are the only ones he’s had here. So far.
“The abundance and variety of beautiful wildlife in the Villages is absolutely amazing. That’s why I am out with my camera every day now that we are retired,” he said.
