Bandits make off with vending machines from Summerfield car wash

Thieves hit a Summerfield car wash Sunday and stole three vending machines, while also damaging a fourth one.

The owner of the Quality Car Wash, located at 16714 S Hwy. 441, told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that two small coin machines valued at $800 apiece were missing, along with a digital/electronic machine valued at $1,000. The fourth machine, which was bent, was valued at $1,200, a sheriff’s office report states.

All of the small vending machines were mounted together on a red frame, which also was damaged. The owner estimated the value of the frame at $2,000, the report states.
