Bicyclist’s leg broken in two places after struck by car near Mulberry Grove Recreation Center

A bicyclist’s leg was broken in two places after she was struck by a car Sunday morning near Mulberry Grove Recreation Center.

The Stonecrester was one of six bicyclists struck by the vehicle which had been turning into Mulberry Grove Recreation Center.

The driver, who had been traveling in the same direction as the bicyclists on Mulberry Lane, had reportedly been blinded by the sun’s glare.

The bicyclist was transported by ambulance to Ocala Regional Medical Center after the accident occurred at 8:30 a.m.

“We all flipped over the car,” said Mary Hayes, one of the injured bicyclists.

She said she and the the other bicyclists were sore, bruised and had suffered road rash in the collision.
