A 56-year-old man employed in the Buffalo Adventures after-school program at The Villages Charter School has been arrested on a charge of child cruelty.

Charter school officials downplayed the arrest in a letter to parents, indicating Day had been “roughhousing” with two students.

But video showed that Day had pinched and kicked students, according to information from the sheriff’s office.

“Buffalo Adventures is our convenient after school program that provides a safe, supervised environment full of enriching educational activities. This program encourages growth through a variety of fun, hands-on, age appropriate activities, and is structured to address the interests and developmental levels of children from kindergarten through high school,” according to The Villages Charter School.

Day has been suspended by the school.
