Cable companies can gouge us at will as long as Villages won’t allow antennas

To the Editor:

With the recent interest in finding alternative ways of getting TV, I find the Villages policy of not allowing TV antennas, contrary to Villagers’ interests.
I have also found that the policy is contrary to FCC law which states no HOA or community authority can supercede the right of citizens to access public communication via antennas. My bill has tripled since I’ve been here and if I’m going to “cut the cable” I need free access to public air waves because other services such IPT Hula, Roku, Netflix, Amazon etc., do not give you local access. I would like to see a challenge to The Villages policy in court to end this illegal prohibition. People can save a lot of money and I don’t see a lot of difference than what we have now with dishes on rooftops or in my case, on a pole out in my yard, which I abhor, but have no choice due to the monopoly that the cable and satellite companies now enjoy. They can continue to gouge us at will.
