Carolyn Bond, age 80, of The Villages, FL, most beloved mother, grandmother and best friend, passed away suddenly September 15, 2018 with her daughter by her side. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She and her beloved late husband of 53 years, Preston Bond, lived in Pittsburgh before moving to The Villages in 1998.
Carolyn had a love for service and hospitality to others; making things the best they could be with what was available; always reaching out to help others. She was a Trustee and a choir member of the Community United Methodist Church of Fruitland Park. She loved traveling with the CUMC choir; singing in Carnegie Hall, Summer Mission Trips, Italy (especially singing in the Vatican), most recently singing in the Kennedy Center and for the Memorial Day Celebration in Washington, DC. Her caring spirit was felt in her role in the Church’s Visitation Ministry. She also was a host for the Church’s Summer Grow Garden for two years. Hospitality was a God-given gift for Carolyn, who was always entertaining church friends, neighbors and loved ones.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane D., Son, Holmes G., Grandson, Jason L. (Lindsay N.), Great-grandchildren, Preston D., Cecelia J., Benjamin J.
Celebration of Life for Carolyn Bond will be held on Monday, October 1 at 10 a.m. at the Community United Methodist Church, Fruitland Park, FL. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to service at the Church. Committal services and Inurnment will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Monday, October 1 at 2:30 p.m.
