Comcast seeking high-achieving high school seniors to apply for scholarships

Comcast is inviting high school seniors across Central Florida, including in Sumter, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Polk and Citrus counties, to apply for the Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program.

The scholarships target students who have outstanding community service, academic performance and leadership skills. The award, funded by the Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation, is a one-time, $2,500 scholarship to be used toward undergraduate education-related expenses.

Since 2001, Comcast NBCUniversal has awarded more than $30 million in scholarships to about 28,000 students to help them pursue higher education. Over the past five years, nearly 1,000 students from across Florida have benefited from the Comcast Leaders and Achievers Program. For this upcoming year, scholarship guidelines allow students to nominate themselves for the program.

“Students who are committed to excellence in the classroom and to supporting their communities have demonstrated qualities that are essential to great leadership,” said Derek Cooper, vice president of government affairs and community impact for the Comcast Florida Region. “We continue to be impressed with the caliber of nominees and look forward to another year of recognizing Comcast Leaders and Achievers across Florida.”

High school seniors that meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply. To learn more about the program, visit the application website HERE. Please direct all email inquiries to leadersandachievers@scholarshipamerica.org or call 1-800-537-4180.
