Community Development District 10 chairman’s election victory subject of recount

Don Wiley

While Florida is gripped in two recount dramas for the state’s highest offices, a Villages official faced a recount battle of his own.

Community Development District 10 Chairman Don Wiley on Tuesday won by a narrow 11 votes over Franklin Marshall.

The margin of victory was narrow enough to trigger a recount Friday morning by the Sumter County Canvassing Board at the Sumter County Supervisor of Elections.

In the recount, the Village of Hillsborough resident picked up one additional vote, giving him a victory by 12 votes.

Wiley represents CDD 10 on the Project Wide Advisory Committee.
