The condition of a dog park in The Villages will be the topic of a meeting at the District Office.
Complaints recently were heard from dog owners who have resorted to taking their pets to a three-acre parcel along the multi-modal path that parallels Morse Boulevard south of County Road 466A. That location became controversial after the Project Wide Advisory Committee agreed to spend about $5,000 to put up a fence after a homeowner expressed his annoyance with the dogs and their owners. In May, an overflow crowd of dog owners showed up at the PWAC meeting and successfully pressured the supervisors to table the fence. During that meeting, the dog owners complained about the conditions at the nearby Atlas Canine Dog Park.
PWAC Chairman Peter Moeller asked staff to assess conditions at the dog park and report back. He also asked that staff look at the possibility of setting up shade shelters at the dog park.
A status update on the dog park is on the PWAC agenda.
PWAC meets at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the District Office at Lake Sumter Landing.
