Construction worker flees crash site, captured in residential area of Villages

A construction worker was arrested in a residential area of The Villages, after crashing a van Friday morning on Morse Boulevard.

The man who had been working at a construction site south of County Road 466A had taken a van to a store at about 11:30 a.m. Friday when the vehicle left the roadway and hit a light pole, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Alberdo Ruiz-Soto, 51, had been driving with a suspended license and fled the scene of the crash.

He was captured in a residential area and arrested for driving while license suspended (habitual offender), resisting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $3,250 bond.
