County Road 466A is now open through Wildwood to U.S. 301.
Crews were still working Monday afternoon, removing orange barrels and using heavy equipment to finish up patches of the improved roadway running from Powell Road to U.S. 301.
That section of CR466A was closed off in October 2013. It had originally been hoped that the project would be complete in December 2014.
The project was delayed when antiquated water pipes and utility lines were discovered.
The city of Wildwood elected to take that opportunity to repair and replace the outdated infrastructure, delaying the work on the roadway.
The CR466A project cost $3.5 million and was funded by Sumter County.
The design engineer was Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. The contractor was D.A.B. Constructors Inc.
