An Ocklawaha woman who posted photos of a lost dog on Facebook and then started receiving threats called a Marion County sheriff’s deputy for help Wednesday.
The woman told the deputy that she found the dog by her porch and posted photos to see if someone might claim the animal. But she said she soon started receiving messages, including one death threat that said: “Give me my dog back or I am going to kill you,” a sheriff’s office report states.
The woman said the person threatening her on Facebook Messenger put a post on the social media site on Sept. 15 referring to her dog as “Baby Girl.” She said the woman said that her dog, a 2.4-pound long-haired Chihuahua, was lost in the area of NE 38th Lane Rd and NE 173rd Court.
The woman pointed out that the dog found on her property is a male and doesn’t match the description of the woman’s lost dog. She said she had tried to explain that to the woman on Facebook and assure her that the dog found on her property was a different animal, but she still was receiving threats, the report says.
