‘Dixie’ and time mixup at Veterans Day ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park

To the Editor:

I wholeheartedly agree with Joe Petullo, concerning the song choice at the Veterans Day celebration. “Dixie” is not an appropriate song
for that venue. I was shocked and dismayed when it was sung.  There should be some vetting of the program prior to it taking place.
In addition, I received a gift of a memorial brick which was to be dedicated at the service. The certificate I received, stated the dedication would take place at 10 a.m. It was changed to 2 p.m. without notice to me or other family and friends. About 30-50 people were at the memorial for 10 a.m.
Again, a notice in the paper that the time had changed would have been helpful.
