Dr. Gabe Mirkin and his wife Diana will be presenting a program in the health series taking place at the New Covenant United Methodist Church in The Villages.

The Mirkins, who reside in The Villages, will speak at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14.

The Mirkins will discuss how lifestyle factors are more effective than drugs in preventing and treating obesity, diabetes, and preventing heart attacks.

“Plaques in arteries are caused by an unhealthy diet and no drug today can remove plaques. Plaques can only be removed by following a healthful diet. Calorie restriction does not cause permanent weight loss, but intermittent fasting is highly effective,” Mirkin said.
