An Ocklawaha driver who was arrested Wednesday for driving with a suspended license claimed he was trying to work to feed his children.
A Marion County sheriff’s deputy observed a 1994 green Saturn driving south at around the 16600 block of S. U.S. Hwy. 441 and conducted a records search on the listed vehicle, according to an arrest report. The search revealed that the registered owner of the vehicle has a suspended driver’s license.
The deputy made contact with the driver, 42-year-old Christopher Brian Cox, who pulled out a Florida identification card. The deputy asked Cox why he was driving without a valid license and he advised that he lived “just up the road.” MCSO dispatch confirmed Cox’s driver’s license as suspended with six prior driving while license suspended or revoked convictions.
Cox was placed under arrest. He advised he “was going through a divorce and was trying to work to feed his children,” the report stated. He was transported to Marion County Jail. Bond was set at $5,000.
