Driver, passenger killed after crashing into unoccupied vehicle in Orange County

A driver and passenger were killed Sunday after their vehicle crashed into an unoccupied vehicle on the Florida Turnpike in Orange County.

David Howard, 39, of Clermont, was driving a 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser southbound on the turnpike in Orange County along with 41-year-old passenger Michele Green of Clermont, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. An unoccupied 1996 Jeep SUV, towing a pickup truck on a trailer, was stopped on the right shoulder when Howard left the travel lane and entered the shoulder, the report stated. The front of the PT Cruiser struck the rear of the Jeep’s trailer.

Howard and Green died at the scene of the accident. The crash remains under investigation.
