On Sunday, February 3, from 10 – 11:20 a. m. at the Canal Street Recreation Center, Jim Bucko will present, “The Evolution Of Belief”. He will explain how all past and contemporary societies have had, or have, beliefs in divine entities or a system of belief that embraces the supernatural. The human species appears to be the only species that develops religion. Where did this propensity for belief in deities and the supernatural come from? What factors in our evolutionary development have caused this? Jim will discuss the latest thinking on the sources of religious belief and why humans find it so attractive.
