Veterans The Focus of Village Park Church Event
November 9 @ 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM$10
Veteran’s Day weekend will see (Ret.) Lt. General William G. (Jerry) Boykin address a men’s breakfast event on Saturday morning November 9 at the newly opened Village Park Church 1000 Village Park Drive off 466A in Fruitland Park, a ministry of First Baptist Church Leesburg.
Boykin, was one of the elite warriors chosen in 1978 to make up the first unit in America’s ultra-secretive and deadly Delta Force, which became the world’s premier Special Operations unit. The only promise: “A medal and a body bag.” What followed was a .50 caliber round in the chest and a life spent with America’s elite forces bringing down warlords and war criminals, despots and dictators.
Jerry became the commander of the unit, and later still the commander of all U.S. Special Forces including all the Army’s Green Berets as well as the Special Warfare Center and School.
His 36 years in the military included a tour at the Central Intelligence Agency and clandestine missions around the world.
General Boykin retired serving his last four years as the deputy undersecretary of defense for intelligence. He now speaks frequently of faith, military, national security, terrorism, Islamic fundamentalism, and the Middle East.
Doors open for the breakfast at 7:30am with the program beginning at 8:00am. Tickets for the event, including breakfast are $10 and can be obtained by calling the church office at either (352) 787-1005 or (352) 314-7480 or on the website http://www.fbcleesburg.com/mensministry.
