FEMA to open a mobile Disaster Recovery Center for Lake County residents and businesses

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has announced it will be opening a mobile Disaster Recovery Center for residents and business owners affected by Hurricane Irma. The DRC will be open beginning Thursday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. at the Lake County Extension Office, located at 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares.

The hours for the DRC will be until 8 p.m. on Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20 through Monday, Oct. 23.

“Following Hurricane Irma, the county has been working with FEMA to establish a Disaster Recovery Center for Lake County,” said Jeff Cole, County Manager. “We appreciate that FEMA has agreed to establish a center here to provide a one-stop-shop of services to our residents and business owners.”

Some of the services available include federal disaster assistance, low-interest loans for homeowners and businesses through the U.S. Small Business Administration and crisis counseling.

For more information, call Lake County’s Office of Emergency Management at 352-343-9420.
