Fence up to block golf carts at popular dog-walking location

A fence is now in place to block golf cart access to a popular dog-walking location in The Villages.

The fence has been put up at a stormwater retention pond across from Lake Miona Recreation Center.

The area has become popular with dog walkers, fishermen, sunset watchers and others.

However, golf carts have taken their toll on the grass.

The Project Wide Advisory Committee, which includes representation from Community Development Districts 5 through 10, recently concluded that a fence would be the best solution to block golf cart access to the area. Pedestrian access is still permitted.

The three-board fence cost less than $4,000 to construct.
