Five jailed after Mascotte raid nets multitude of illegal drugs

A recent raid in Mascotte netted a cache of illegal drugs and led to the arrests of five people.

Detectives and SWAT team members from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant Oct. 26 at a house located at 119 Putnam Street. The detectives, from the sheriff’s office’s Special Investigations Unit, searched the residence, vehicles parked outside and seven people in the house. During the search, they found a litany of drugs, including:

  • Approximately a quarter kilo of cocaine;
  • Cocaine prepackaged for sale
  • Several pounds of marijuana;
  • More than 100 Xanax pills;
  • Drug paraphernalia; and
  • $4,500 in cash.
Detectives from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office found about a quarter kilo of cocaine, cocaine prepackaged for sale, several pounds of marijuana, more than 100 Xanax pills, drug paraphernalia and $4,500 in cash during a recent raid on a house in Mascotte.

Five people were taken into custody, transported to the Lake County Jail and charged with various crimes. They all are scheduled to appear in Lake County Court on Nov. 19 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the charges. Those arrested include:

  • Amando Mendoza, 32, who lives in the home, was charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of a schedule II narcotic without a prescription, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana more than 20 grams with intent to distribute. Mendoza was released Oct. 27 on $71,000 bond.
  • Tony Nunez, 36, of 708 Wave Crest Rd. in Orlando, was charged with trafficking in cocaine and released Oct. 27 on $50,000 bond.
  • Raul Deleon III, 29, of 12111 Howey Cross Rd. in Clermont, was charged with possession of cocaine and released Oct. 27 on $2,000 bond.
  • Derrick Hart, 25, of 1591 Downing St. in Groveland, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and released last Monday on $2,000 bond.
  • Nicodemus Quintas,74, of 912 N Solandra Dr. in Orlando, was charged with possession of cocaine and released Oct. 27 on $2,000 bond.
