Golf cart driver arrested after leaving The Villages Regional Hospital

Scott Gambrazzio

A golf cart driver was arrested early Wednesday morning after leaving The Villages Regional Hospital in an apparently intoxicated state.

Scott Michael Gambrazzio, 48, of Wendell, N.C., at about 5:30 a.m., against medical advice, left the hospital and got into a golf cart, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A sheriff’s deputy found him traveling on the roadway on El Camino Real. His eyes were watery, he was slurring his words and had trouble standing up. He failed field sobriety exercises and refused to provide a breath sample.

A check revealed Gambrazzio also refused to submit to a breathalyzer test in 2000 in Fort Worth, Texas.

He was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and failure to submit to a breath test. He was booked on $2,000 bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
