Golf cart driver, passenger injured when struck by pickup in Village of Lake Deaton

A golf cart driver and passenger were injured Wednesday afternoon when the golf cart was struck by a pickup in the Village of Lake Deaton.

The golf cart had been westbound at 3:12 p.m. on Cross Hill Drive and had slowed to make a left turn onto Unique Street when it was struck by the pickup which had tried to pass the golf cart, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the golf cart was transported to Leesburg Regional Medical Center. The passenger was trauma alerted to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

The pickup driver was cited for careless driving.
