A homeless man has been arrested in the theft of a wallet from a locker at a local gym.

A man went at about 5 p.m. Sunday to the Too Your Health Spa on Hartsock Sawmill Road in Lady Lake and placed his wallet, cell phone and personal items in a locker. When he returned, he discovered the locker had been forcibly entered and his property was gone, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

Security footage showed two men on bicycles riding up to the gym and entering through the front door. Still images were acquired from a nearby Sunoco gas station and Dollar General showing the same two men using a stolen debit card to purchase merchandise, including cigarettes.

Robert Wesley Allen Jr.

A detective canvassed local homeless camps and showed the images, which produced a name of one of the suspects. The images were also shared with local law enforcement agencies and a Fruitland Park officer found one of the suspects, 34-year-old Robert Wesley Allen Jr., on Wednesday afternoon in the 200 block of East Lavista Street. He was in possession of tools believed to have been used in the theft at the gym.

Allen was arrested on charges of burglary, grand theft, possession of burglary tools and criminal mischief.

He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $19,500.
