A horse trailer overturned after a truck’s tire blew out Sunday afternoon on Interstate 75 in Marion County.

John McKelvey, 54, of Homosassa, had been at the wheel of a 2004 Ford F-350 at 3:33 p.m. Sunday northbound on I-75 at Mile Marker 365 when the vehicle front left tire blew out, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The truck traveled into the center median, struck a guardrail and landed on its left side. The horse trailer overturned and continued to slide for 30 yards.

McKelvey and a passenger, his 21-year-old daughter Samantha Sullo, escaped injury in the mishap.
