Hydroplaning pickup truck crashes into ditch near entrance to Water Oak

A 22-year-old Summerfield man escaped injury when his hydroplaning pickup truck ended up in a ditch Monday night at U.S. Hwy. 27/441 at Water Oak Boulevard in Lady Lake.

The man who had been driving the truck said the vehicle began hydroplaning as he was driving in the rain at about 6:30 p.m. Monday. He said he was driving home from work.

Lake County Fire Rescue and Lady Lake police responded to the scene of the single-vehicle accident.

The pickup hydroplaned before landing in the ditch.
