The Jewish National fund and the Temple Shalom Solidarity Committee will present the program Jerusalem: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 1 featuring the Washington correspondent for the Times of Israel Rebecca Shimoni-Stoil.
As a journalist Shimoni-Stoil has provided front-line accounts of rocket attacks in Sderot, train wrecks, suicide bombings and the Second Lebonon War. She has interviewed Nobel Peace Prize laureates, top security officials and many of Israel’s political leaders. She is currently completing a PhD in History at Johns Hopkins University. She also teaches courses on military studies for non-majors, translating the major questions facing military thinkers and civilian policy-making into a political science framework.
This program is the first in the 2017/18 Israel Solidarity Committee speaker series at Temple Shalom.  The January program will feature the Director of the Friends of Israel Defense Forces talking about the military program in Israel. The February program will feature the Director of the Center for Israel Education discussing Zionism today. Programs take place on the first Wednesday of the month The January and February programs will start at 7 p.m. Committee chairperson Marsha Riefs said the March program would be announced in the near future.
These events are free and open to the community.
