Kenneth Clarence Gerbig, 87 of The Villages, Florida, passed away on October 31 at Cornerstone Hospice with his wife and family by his side. Ken was born in Oakhurst, New Jersey to Clarence and Martha Gerbig.
Ken served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After serving his country, Ken returned home to marry his sweetheart Marilyn O’Rourke on July 10, 1954. They have been side by side ever since. They lovingly raised four children in Neptune, New Jersey.
Ken enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the Jersey Shore. The family had many vacations together, including traveling to New Hampshire to visit his parents. At age 50, he completed the New York City and Jersey Shore marathons. After retiring from AT&T in 1990 they moved to The Villages, Florida. His many interests included golf, painting and drawing, entertaining others, playing cards, music and dancing with his wife.
Ken will be missed by his loving wife of 64 years Marilyn Gerbig, his sister Evelyn Poore, his children Richard Gerbig (partner James Moran), Kathleen Fellenz (husband Kim Sr.), Michael Gerbig (wife Judy) and Bryan Gerbig, four grandchildren, Kellee Rodriguez (husband Jose and daughter Peyton), Charisse Fellenz (children, Mya, Sanai and Kamdyn), Kim Fellenz Jr. (wife Victoria and son Julian), Krystal Ortiz (husband Carlos and son Dominick), and a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Lady Lake Chapel of Beyers Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 3 to 5 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m.
