A Lady Lake couple was injured when their vehicle was struck by an SUV after they had stopped to yield to an emergency vehicle this weekend near Brownwood.
Terry Duane Hamilton, 56, and Donna Hamilton, 55, of Lady Lake, had been traveling in a 2017 Ford Expedition at 10:50 a.m. Saturday on State Road 44 near its intersection with Buena Vista Boulevard when it yielded to a Villages Public Safety Department ladder truck responding to an unrelated medical call, according to an accident report from the Wildwood Police Department. The firetruck had its lights and siren activated as it was turning from Buena Vista Boulevard onto State Road 44.
When the Hamiltons’ vehicle stopped, it was rear-ended by a SUV driven by Thomas Myron Loomer, 72, of Rapid City, S.D.
The Hamiltons were both transported to Leesburg Regional Medical Center. Loomer was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
Loomer was ticketed on a charge of careless driving.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
