A 36-year-old Lady Lake man was taken into custody after allegedly helping his brother avoid arrest.

A Lake County sheriff’s deputy had responded Thursday night to a verbal dispute reported by a neighbor on Happy Lane in Lady Lake.

Eric Lee McCleary admitted that he and his brother had been arguing, according to an arrest report. McCleary also said his brother was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant.

McCleary then stuck out his hands to be placed under arrest and claimed his brother was not in the house.

The brother ran out of the house, fled on foot and jumped over a fence, according to the arrest report.

McCleary was arrested on a charge of obstruction of justice and booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $1,000.
