On Sept. 20, the Lake County Board of County Commissioners approved a resolution requesting FEMA assistance to remove vegetative storm debris from private property, gated communities and non-county maintained roads, up to a collection cost of $500,000.
Homeowners’ Associations (HOAs), those living on private roads and individuals living in private communities without an HOA must fill out a Right of Entry form to begin allowing the county contractor to pick up storm debris in their communities. The form can be found online at https://lakecountyfl.gov/departments/public_works/solid_waste/storm_debris.aspx and must be completed, signed and mailed or dropped off to Lake County Solid Waste at 13130 County Landfill Road, Tavares. The form is required to grant permission to the contractor to work on these roads. Construction and demolition debris are not included and will not be collected in these private communities.

Lake County is continuing to work diligently to collect storm debris left in the wake of Hurricane Irma, thus far collecting more than 90,000 cubic yards of debris. Efforts are steadily increasing with added hauler trucks, combined with the assistance of county staff.
Residents may still opt to dispose of their storm debris at the county landfill or one of five convenience centers, free of charge. Extended hours at the landfill and convenience centers have returned to normal due to decreased demand, with the exception of the Log House and Lady Lake.
