Lawrence ‘Larry’ H. Harding

Lawrence “Larry” H. Harding, 82, of The Villages, FL, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2018. Larry was born April 3, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY to John Rex and Sarah Sahlin Harding.

He was a proud member of The Villages community where he devoted much of his time to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, passionately serving in the Ministry of Consolation, and the Orange Blossom Square and Round Dancing Club.

Prior to retiring in The Villages, Larry had lived in Rockville Centre and Wantagh, NY while working as a gifted carpenter for over 50 years. Larry was active in St. Frances de Chantel parish for over 30 years, where he built their first kindergarten facility. Larry also served in the Army National Guard, New York’s 7th Regiment.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Barbara. Their love was as strong on the day he passed as the day they married 61 years ago. Larry was blessed with 6 children and their spouses: Kevin & Marianne Harding, Kerri Harding, Peter & Mary Meg Harding, Patricia Harding & Donna McCarraher, Paul & Ricia Harding and David & Kimberly Harding; 12 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his brother, John Rex Harding; however, he remained very close to his sister-in-law Dorothy and their children.

Larry’s family expresses deepest gratitude to Compassionate Care Hospice, The Villages, Florida for their unwavering help, support and guidance.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, October 22, 2018, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, The Villages, Florida. Committal will be at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
