Man in car with New York plates arrested in alleged theft of DVDs at Best Buy

Dwayne Bell

A man in a car with New York license plates was arrested Tuesday in the alleged theft of DVDs at Best Buy at Village Crossroads in Lady Lake.

Dwayne J. Bell, 32, of Leesburg, entered the store and removed the plastic wrap and security strips from three DVDs, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. He left the store without paying for the DVDs, got into a blue Mazda with New York license plates and began to drive away. He was stopped almost immediately by a Lady Lake police officer. The officer also found that Bell’s driver’s license was suspended.

He was arrested on charges of petit theft and driving while license suspended and booked at the Lake County Jail. He was released after posting $1,500 bond.

Bell was arrested earlier this year after he allegedly attempted to steal headphones at Target at Rolling Acres Plaza.
