Jeffrey Michael Welling, who lives at Lakeside Landings in Oxford, fled World of Beer at Brownwood Paddock Square at about 3 p.m. Saturday after throwing a drink at two individuals, slapping one on the hand and then grabbing the other, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. Welling then fled in a silver car.

A Wildwood police officer spotted Welling getting out of his car, and ordered him to stop. Instead, Welling fled on foot. The officer caught Welling and was then assisted by other officers. Welling was then checked out by EMS. Welling also resisted the officer when he tried to handcuff him.

Welling became unresponsive and was transported to The Villages Regional Hospital for a medical evaluation.

He was later booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on two counts of battery and one count of resisting an officer. Bond was set at $3,000.

Welling had been arrested in December for violating a domestic violence injunction. He was working as an usher at the Barnstorm Theater in Brownwood when he was arrested in March after allegedly pocketing rent money at an apartment complex.
