Man riding Harley-Davidson motorcycle killed in collision with SUV

A man riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was killed in a collision with a Chevy Blazer on Saturday night in Marion County.

Jack Reid, 64, of Ocala had been riding the motorcycle at 7:30 p.m. northbound on County Road 200, approaching the intersection of NW 44th Street, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The motorcycle was traveling directly in front of the SUV, driven by 59-year-old Joe T. Mason of Ocala. For an unknown reason, Reid’s motorcycle made an evasive action within the roadway, subsequently resulting in the Chevy Blazer striking the motorcycle.

Reid was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center where he died of injuries suffered in the accident.

He had not been wearing a helmet, the FHP report indicated.
