Man taken to jail after caught fishing at Lake Sumter Landing

William Touchton

A man was arrested and taken to jail after he was caught fishing at Lake Sumter Landing.

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies responded at 5:35 p.m. Monday to the area of Morse Boulevard and Lake Sumter Landing to investigate a report of a suspicious person.

William Hokelee Touchton, 34, of Ocala, was spotted with a fishing pole at the shoreline. In 2016, he had been warned to stay away from Lake Sumter.

He was arrested on a charge of trespassing and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. He was released after posting $1,000 bond.

Fishing can be fun in The Villages, but make sure you know the rules.
