Marion County sheriff’s detectives seeking public’s help in identifying human remains

Detectives from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office have received the official results from the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification which confirmed that the human remains found in Ocklawaha on Nov. 5, 2015, are not those of missing person Johnny Radabaugh Jr. Instead, DNA analysis confirmed that this set of human remains is of a male subject who is currently unidentified.

On Nov. 5, 2015, three fishermen walking through a rural wooded area between the 6300th and 6500th block of SE 149th Court Road in Ocklawaha discovered human remains adjacent to an unnamed lake. Forensic anthropologists with the University of South Florida’s Art of Forensics’ program believe the remains are those of a 30-50 year old white male.

They believe he had very poor dental health, periodontal disease and numerous amalgam and composite dental restorations. Chemical isotope testing was conducted to estimate his geographical origin and determined that he was likely a foreign national. The testing found that the unidentified individual probably grew up in Western Europe, the Middle East, or Australia, and was only in Florida for a short period of time prior to his death.

If you have any information on the identity of this individual or any information about this case, please call Detective Shannon Wiles at 352-368-3539 or to remain anonymous, call the Crime Stoppers of Marion County at 352-368-STOP or 352-368-7867.
