Mary Lillian Haisten

Mrs. Lillie Savelle Gwaltney Haisten, 96, of Oxford, FL, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018. Mrs. Haisten was born on August 3, 1922, in Dawson, Georgia, to William and Mary Lillian Savelle.

She and her twin brother, Billie Savelle, moved with their family to Oxford when she was a very young child, and she lived the rest of her life in the Oxford community. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Oxford.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Jesse “Doc” Gwaltney, her second husband, George H. “Bubba” Haisten, her twin brother Billie Savelle, and her son Sidney Gwaltney. She is survived by her four sons and their spouses: Keith & Carolyn Gwaltney of Pensacola, Joe & Jenny Gwaltney of Belleview, Randy & Pat Gwaltney of Oxford, and Wayne & Delilah Gwaltney of Wildwood and by her daughter-in-law, Freda Gwaltney of Rose Hill, Kansas. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren: Kevin, Jennifer, Kimberly, Amanda, Doug, Loretta, Karen, Jeff, and Bethany and by her sixteen great-grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.

Ms. Lillie was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed. Ms. Lillie’s family will celebrate her life at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Banks/Page Theus Funeral Home in Wildwood. Burial will follow at Pine Level Cemetery in Oxford.

Memorials may be made to the Florida Baptist Children’s Home or Pine Level Cemetery Association.
