Men sought after taking slow cooker off Wal-Mart shelf and returning it for cash

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was called Monday to the Wal-Mart in Summerfield after two men took a slow cooker off the shelf and returned it for cash minutes later.

A loss prevention officer reported that the two men entered the store at U.S. Hwy. 27/441 with two unknown items in their cart around 7 p.m. They walked to the back of the store and put the slow cooker in their cart as well, a sheriff’s office report states.

The men then went to the customer service counter and attempted to return the two items in the cart. But the customer service representative wouldn’t allow them to do so without a receipt.

So they tried to return the slow cooker and the customer service representative gave them $32.02 in cash. The men then left the store, the report says.
