Mother in Village of Silver Lake reports son’s suspected drug use to law enforcement

Nicholas Garfield Shriver

A 29-year-old man who lives in The Villages with his mother was arrested after she reported his suspected drug use to law enforcement.

The mother of Nicholas Garfield Shriver reported to a Lake County sheriff’s deputy that she had found methamphetamine in her son’s room at their home at 826 Silver Oak Ave. in the Village of Silver Lake

The deputy on Friday found Shriver pulling out of a parking space at the Post Office on the Historic Side and initiated a traffic stop near the Shay Gate. A hypodermic needle and Ziploc bag containing a crystal-like substance which tested positive for methamphetamine was found in the door pocket of the truck Shriver had been driving.

The arrest report noted that Shriver repeatedly said he was “paranoid,” he was being “set up,” and someone had “messed with the wiring of his truck.”

He was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug equipment.

He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $3,000 bond.
